Photoshop World - Reason #6 To Go!

Midnight Madness

We're not talking about some over-rated glorified basketball practice, nor an 80's album by Night Ranger here! No, we're talking about the legendary after hours party at Photoshop World, where the only thing promised is that you will NOT learn anything about Photoshop! There are always many fabulous prizes to win, as long as you don't mind getting singled out a little. Bring your coffee mug and your sense of humor!

But you have to move fast. Tickets for Midnight Madness are available at Photoshop World on a first-come, first-served basis. However, these tickets go FAST and people have been known to camp out for them.

This night of no-holds-barred Photoshop mayhem is definitely the hottest ticket at the conference - delivering non-stop music, madness, contests, and partying is hosted by the conference ringmaster himself, Scott Kelby.

The only way you go is to A) Attend Photoshop World and B) be lucky enough to secure one of the 200 tickets to be given away. So, get in line outside of Hall C because starting at 7:30 am they’ll be handing out tickets.

Photoshop World - Reason #7 To Go!

The Keynote Speech

How cool would it be to go to a conference on Photoshop and hear the opening keynote address from the senior vice president of the Adobe Creative Solutions Business Unit?

Well that's what happens every year, when Photoshop World asks John Loiacono ("Johnny L") to give the keynote. He is responsible for the development, delivery and marketing of Adobe's entire creative software portfolio. His ability and willingness to share some of Adobe's largest news nuggets exclusively with the Photoshop World audience makes me want to be sitting right there from the beginning.

Plus, he and Scott Kelby have a running "one-up" gag that always delivers a great laugh, and memorable moment.

New Update for Lightroom (FREE)

Adobe released a free downloadable update to Lightroom 2 (bringing it to version 2.2), that adds support for some recently released cameras (including the Canon 5D Mark II, , a number of Panasonic cameras, and the Canon G10), along with some bug fixes (for a list of the bug fixes, visit Lightroom Product Manager Tom Hogarty’s blog by clicking here).

Also, (and this is big), this update includes the final versions of the Camera Profiles which will now be available in the Calibration panel.

To get the free update, go under Lightroom’ 2’s Help menu and choose “Check for Updates.”

Photoshop World - Reason #8 To Go!

The Art of Digital Photography

Ever wonder what went into getting that perfect photograph? Ever seen the artist get really emotional about his work? Ever laughed so hard at the events that led up to that picture? Well if you want to experience a night you'll never forget, join some of the world's most celebrated masters, and true living legends of photography, at the TOTALLY FREE, after hours event at Photoshop World.

By all accounts, this is one of the most talked about sessions of the conference. This is just another reason I want to go to Photoshop World March 25-27, 2009 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today in the U.S. we celebrate one of our most popular holidays; “Thanksgiving,” which is day for giving thanks for the blessings in our lives.

This is a day we usually spend at home surrounded by family, and we enjoy two key Thanksgiving day traditions: a huge Thanksgiving day turkey dinner, and FOOTBALL!!!

I’m thankful to everyone who stops by here, and spends a few minutes with me each day. I feel very blessed to be able to do this blog.

I would like to send a Thanksgiving blessing to all of our friends, family and to those very special men and women who are fighting for our freedom.

I wish you all a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

The GURU Awards!

I'm no where near ready to start submitting my work to the GURU awards, but seeing the winners work each year is jaw dropping and inspiring. The image above is a previous winner, and all of last conference winner's can be seen here. The only images I've ever seen are the winners, so now I want to see all the entries!

And guess what - it's only open to the attendees of Photoshop World! It's a great - and fun - way to get your work noticed by some of the best in the industry.
